Teaching Philosophy
Differentiation through instructional best practices is a staple element of my classroom. My core belief is that differentiating is a key to for helping all students be successful. Having taught every subject within the 4th grade curriculum has given me great insight on integrating skills within the classroom. Many colleagues ask why I choose to not use the same lessons every year, and differentiation is why. A good teacher like myself approaches each lesson differently every year because, the group of students is different. I need to know my students. Their wide range of ability levels changes from year to year. I differentiate instruction through a variety of strategies. I utilize formative assessments such as self-assessments and pretests to guide my differentiation. Then, by using informal checks for understanding or exit tickets, I can adapt my lesson daily. Having a wide range of tools to engage students and spark their desire for lifelong learning is my goal. Thus, building critical thinkers and preparing all learners to compete in our global society. Technology integration is an essential part of moving students towards becoming our future leaders
