LEADNERSHIP EXPERIENCES
I have been active in every district I have had the pleasure of working for when it comes to leading a group of professionals. I love helping my fellow educators improve their teaching, increase their technology knowledge, and supporting them through district initiatives. I was the Department chair for Language Arts and Math departments at Winton Woods Elementary School. I have served on the BLT for both Winton Woods and Lakota Local along with serving on the DLT for Winton Woods. I had the privilege to serve as the Vice President of my local teachers’ association. Through my time in these roles of leadership, I have developed into a reliable, trusted, and well respected leader among the staff and administration. I have described more about each of my leadership experiences below.

Department Leader
One of my largest leadership roles was as the Team/Department leader. I had many responsibilities with this leadership role. I was the leader of the Reading department for 4 years and Math for 2 years. In both situations I was asked to lead 10-20 teachers through district initiatives.
- I was in charge of focusing our teams planning time, analyzing current data, creating differentiated lesson plans and designing rigorous formative and summative assessments through a backwards design approach. I was also in charge of leading bi-monthly TBT meetings, tracking the teams progress, and reporting the information at the BLT meeting.
- In these leadership roles teachers would ask my advice on teaching lessons, to model lessons, and observe their teaching in hopes of increasing student achievement.
- I have been able to build trust with my fellow educators in each setting and a great collaborative working situation. I have truly enjoyed leading these fine people and helping the district move forward.

Teacher Association Vice President
Being the Vice President of the Teachers' Association helped my to see both sides of the picture when it comes to a school district. I was able to experience issues from the district point of view and come to understand how much their hand are tied when it comes to many issues. Being someone who can help the staff understand these constraints was an important part of my role. Through this position I was able to become someone the staff and district administration respected. Being a person who can keep things confidential is an essential skill in this role, and my fellow staff members and district leaders found me to be of a high moral and ethical character.
